The Penobscot and its companion Eastport project are both 26 MW circulating fluidized bed (CFB) plants that burn wastewooda byproduct of the paper industry. These plants were built at a cost exceeding $110 million. Ridgewood acquired a 50% interest in the plants and has operating control. Both plants are participants in NEPOOL. Ridgewood has developed an outstanding "green" power marketing group that sells the energy, capacity and "Renewable Energy" credits of the Penobscot and Eastport plants, creating additional revenue streams for Power Trust IV and Power Trust V.
