Queens Park II, brought online September 2002, was the first of seven megawatts of landfill methane power plants financed by the Ridgewood Renewable PowerBank. Pictured above is the Queens Park II generator along with the Queens Park I generator (owned by CLP Envirogas, of which Ridgewood U.K. is 88% owner). Each 1 MW power plant is a 50-foot long factory-built modular unit containing an engine and electricy generator. This plant is located adjacent to the Queens Park Road landfill. Methane gas, which would otherwise escape into the atmosphere as a "greenhouse" or global-warming gas, is collected and cleanly burned to produce renewable electricity. The PowerBank plants produce premium renewable electricity while reducing air pollution. The projects on the Queens Park site were sold as part of the sale of the UK business in February 2007.
